ABB acquires SIEMENS low-voltage NEMA motor business, causing Siemens to lose a moment of

ABB announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Siemens' low-voltage NEMA motor business. The transaction was initially announced on August 11, 2022, and the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The business has approximately 600 employees and revenue of approximately $63 million in 2021.
The acquisition of this business is part of the profit growth strategy in the Motion business area. It consolidates ABB's position as a leading industrial NEMA motor manufacturer and provides a stronger platform to better serve its global customers. Add the Siemens low-voltage NEMA motor product portfolio to existing ABB and Baldor Reliance industrial motor products
The horizontal and vertical induction heavy-duty and universal motor product lines will be renamed ABB and will be reintroduced to the market in the second quarter of 2023.
The global NEMA motor industry has a scale of approximately $2.7 billion, including industrial motors primarily used in North America. NEMA motors are the basic components used for operating equipment in industries such as food and beverage, oil and gas, mining and aggregates, water and wastewater, as well as in applications such as mobile air, liquids, and devices.
